I leave a 1w led on all night when parents have fry.

The first day they attach, i cycle lights on and off
Sometimes, a bright light will even make mine unattach.
Like Brent, I find that a very small light is often the way to go for a day or two

I like a night light on over or next to the tank when the rest of the fish room's lights are out.

I take a piece of cardboard and slip under the fluorescent fixture, covering about 3/4 of it. This will dim the light quite a bit and leave a darker area for mom and fry to relax, but still leave the tank fairly illuminated.

My lights are on a regular timer and doesn't change with babies. I have a couple of dim night lights in the fish shed.

+1 I just left the tank lights on the same schedule as the rest of the tanks in the room.
(Disclaimer: my 1st spawn is 28days free swimming)
