My tds is 45 out of the tap which I use for breeding and I've just started adding tropic marin pro-discus to raise tds to 150 for growing on.

I use RO & add RO Right - I aim for 100-125. but then I'm not interested in breeding :)

Every breeder here would agree with that statement I believe, myself included but I only use RO and RO right when hatching then its straight back to aged tap water.

There is no one answer to this question, it depends on what elements make up the content of the dissolved minerals that are contributing to the conductivity of the water. It is theoretically possible to have extremely high TDS value but still be cacium deficient.
