Hey guys i was wondering who owned one of these fixtures. It will be a year soon and my water changing/feeding routine has payed off in the barebottom tank. It will be time to add plants and sand in a few months. This high end lighting is a bit new to me and im not sure what bulbs to buy for my tank. It definitely isn't as simple as buying a flora-glo bulb for that basic hooded light that comes with a new tank in a kit. The whole color, kelvin thing is another language to me. As of now I have 2 regular bulbs, and 2 actinic bulbs and moon lights. I want a moderately planted tank but not sure what bulbs to buy that are good for growth and easy on the discus. Can anyone help me on that?

BTW will purigen absorb flourish and excel if i have it in my filter when its time? I will probably also use root tabs.

they make a Fresh water setup w/ 6000k Natural white) & what they call Roseate - which is what is recommended 4 live plants.

note sure if this link will work but try it: http://www.aquaticlife.com/products2/341#1

Here's a look @ my set up:

nice setup you have, thanks for the links! I hope to successfully have nice plants BTW do you use both the natural white lights along with the roseate and how do the fish look under that type of light? I know depending on what bulb you have the colors on the fish really stand out or can be bleached out.

I used the Aquaticlife (4 bulb) T5 HO Bulbs- (2) 6000k, (1) Roseate, (1) Actinic. - You get different opinions on the Actinic w/ live plants. I didn't or haven't see any different between the different setup. But after about a year it was time 2 change. So after some research went w/ Zoo Meds
(2) Flora Sun 5000k - http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/EntryDetail.php?EntryID=295&DatabaseID=2&SearchID=21&SearchContext=YTo0OntzOjQ6IlBhZ2UiO3M6MToiMCI7czo4 OiJTZWFyY2hJRCI7czoyOiIyMSI7czoxMDoiRGF0YWJhc2VJRC I7czoxOiIyIjtzOjg6IktleXdvcmRzIjtzOjU6InQ1LUhPIjt9
(2) Ultra Sun 6500k - http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/EntryDetail.php?EntryID=298&DatabaseID=2&SearchID=21&SearchContext=YTo0OntzOjQ6IlBhZ2UiO3M6MToiMCI7czo4 OiJTZWFyY2hJRCI7czoyOiIyMSI7czoxMDoiRGF0YWJhc2VJRC I7czoxOiIyIjtzOjg6IktleXdvcmRzIjtzOjU6InQ1LUhPIjt9

That's the newest setup. But had no issues w/ the AquaticLife Bulbs. Just looking for a little different color mix.
