Nicholson and I built the stand. (He really built it and I watched) But later he had me do slave labor with him and install a sign for his buddy in the middle of a Texas summer day in a sparsely shaded area. The stand is about 13 feet across with 6 DAS tanks. The tanks were a pretty big pain. They had built in overflow boxes that were black and not very conducive to a breeder tank which had to be removed. Not to mention all of the tanks were painted black. I had to use a 4 inch razor to strip them. I eventually got lazy and some of the tanks still have streaks of black under the new coat of paint where I didn't go back and touch up. If I had to do the painting over again I probably just would have painted all of the tanks that lime green color. It really makes my fish pop.

Right now I'm just giving the majority of my fish some time to fatten up before I split off more of the pairs.

2 x Alex P. Blue SS (1 Confirmed Male, 1 unconfirmed Male)

2 x Alex P. Red Turqs (Confirmed Pair)

1 x Alex P. RSG - I think (confirmed female)

2 x Stendker Pigeons (From the NADA Show)

2 x Stendker Colbalt (Confirmed females)

2 x Stendker Leopards (Confirmed Pair)

1 x Stendker Red Turq (Unconfirmed Male)

1 x Stendker Brilliant Turq (Unconfirmed Male)

1 x Fire Red unconfirmed, lost one about a week ago

1 x Wayne NG Blue Knight (His scales and color are all kinds of jacked. If I didnt want his genes I'd probably sell him off. He's a bit older)

Love the set up. how are the tanks stacked? my computer is small and to me they look like they're just floating on top of each other

Dan forgot to mention that the stand is built in a modular fashion so that it can be broken down and moved with ease. I saw the green color in person and it really looks nice. The PB from the NADA show were still pepper free.

Thanks Trish, Pete, Nichole, Pat, Larry and Skip.

Pete - the old DAS tanks have thick sides and are made to sit directly on each other.

Trish - The sponges are just in there for tank wipe downs. They were left over "bio media" from a sump I built and never set up. They complemented the colors of the tank so I figured WTH. Ive been going back and forth on removing sponge filters from my breeding tanks and just using air stones. Maybe a couple of those floating on top could help with the bio load.

And as John pointed out, the stand is modular. I lease my house so if I decided to buy one I can break everything down and reuse it.

Ha ha, yeah. John and I had a discussion about that. For right now I'm happy with what I have.

Dan, you have pictures of the stand prior to placing the tanks. I am interested in the modular design. I see possibilties for my application.

Sorry Pat, I don't. We basically built three stands and then connected them. John can probably post the blue prints. I should have been more thorough in the process for everyone but I was ready for it to be done.

Thanks Josie.

Nicole- Nope, the stand was not build to have a sump under it. If I decide to put a sump under it later on I can modify the stand. The longest part of my water change is filling the aging cans back up. I'm working on a better way to do that. Once it's done I should be able to 90% W/C the entire setup in an hour and half. (That includes refilling the aging cans)

That's good - didn't see anything in the pictures... But with that time frame it's good.

Dan, What a nice fish room, very organized. Do you mind me asking what kind of aquariums are those? I've never seen any like them. I am in the process of restarting my discus raising and am deciding on my set up and your tanks intrigue me.

Thanks

Thanks Lab Man, like John said, they are DAS stackable tanks. similar to what you'd see in some pet stores. They're really great tanks. The only downside to them is that they are much heavier then tanks of comparable size because they are made to be stacked like you see in the picture. The glass on the sides is much thicker than a traditional tank. My goal was to have a simple and organized look and I feel like they've really done the job. The first three I paid about 100 a piece for. ( I know I overpaid). The second three I got for 200 total. So, I ended up doing OK.

very nice set up and beautiful fish.

Thanks Darren!

Pardon my ignorance but DAS is the acronym for and where can I find these DAS tanks?

Thank you

New Blue SS from Hans. It's interesting to me the color difference on a stendker SS and a piwarski ss. It's confusing almost lol.

Thanks Hans, the fish look great. the SS is better than I could have imagined.

Click around you'll also find a new pair of pigeons who had a harder time in shipping and a flachen who looks like a cobalt ( I think that's why I picked him). These pictures are literally 30 seconds out of bag. I'll get more up when they've settled in.
