got a few pounds of beefheart-wondering just how hard is it to clean and trim out the membranes? im trying the presto to make the little worms...cut in small cunks-freeze-then zap it through the presto and freeze the little beefheart worms.

It's not hard but it's a PITA. You just need a sharp knife and patience. You really need to get every bit of membrane, fat and blood vessels removed before you run it through your presto.

I'm lazy I have a local butcher do the cleaning. I know how to prepare the beef but like Steve said it a pain in the a$$ LOL...JOSIE

My cheese grater little worms. Intrested to see how the presto worms turn out.

Yes, it saves your fingers when its frozen. As ur gratting and it starts thawing u have more of a chance of loosing skin on ur fingers.

i got them all clean...some cubes bigger than others. ill shoot a pic when they go through the shooter...thx for the video about cleaning the heart.

not for sure...there frozen-but like all together. do i wait for a few hours to thaw then salad shoot them? its like 1, well 2 big balls of beef tips....lols. let me know-id like to get this done today. thx

Keep it frozen. Break them apart and cut smaller if u need to. Big sharp knife and a rocking motion but put on top of a towel so it doesn't slide off the cutting board. Remember K.Y.F.S.-----keep your fingers safe. Smaller chuncks and not so fast that u generate heat that thaws the meat. Its like shaving ice for a snow cone, just beef flavored.

i got 6 baggies half way full in the freezer(quart size). fed this morning and they love the stuff! its kind of frozen in chunks though......suppose to be like this?

When u grind it, lay it out on a cookie sheet and throw it in the freezer. A quick freeze and put it into bags. It will stay seperated better.

In my bh i put other ingredients and trust me discus love it try to add 1/2 pound of raw cod ,nd 1/2 pound raw shrimp , griind it nd mix it with the bh as,well as some green caned peas, nd a little of paprika, u can always add some flake food to enhance flavors nd ur discus would attack it like sharks. Lol i will upload a,vid today of my feeding..

Yep with no problems... Wc every other day , 50% I dont have to worry for left overs since they tear it apart my little tetras,also eat the small particles and they all love it

Can we use other animal heart like deer or moose from hunting?

I'm interested in all diy meet storage i can do since fish food is pricy here .
