I have been looking online for different options to buy 2-2.5" Discus just starting out and came across this website. Does anyone know anything about this breeder?

Thanks!

Maybe consider forum sponsor Discus-Hans, excellent reputation, great fish, and cheaper than your link.

I just bought several fish the same size from Mike Beals of Central Ohio Discus http://www.centralohiodiscus.com/ . Mike was very nice to deal with and the sale went very smoothly. Like Kenny, Mike is also a sponser here. He just got a whole new slew of fish in. In the classifieds section of this website, many hobbyist breeders wil post fry for sale. I think you might have fun shopping around and talking to some of the breeders/sellers. I think you'll have fun checking things out and making your decision. I know I did.

Julia,
Spend some time looking thru our sponsor section and seeing what they to offer...Most ship and we have many quality sellers here that have proven track records at providing good quality stock. Theres also usually some nice hobbyist raised fish availible by members here. You should be able to find something to fill your discus needs here with sellers at SimplyDiscus and I think in the long run, you'll be happy you did.:) Good luck!

Al

I've purchased discus from Mac's three or four times and had no problems. However, I've
picked them up in person since I live only 150 miles south so I can't comment on the shipping.

I inquired about Mac's discus once and he is not a breeder....

It is better to get directly from a breeder because then you do not have to pay extra for the middle man (Mac).

I wouldn't necessarily say all breeders are better or at times even cheaper. Kenny, Hans, and Mike Beals are not breeders they are importers yet all have pretty solid reputations here. Just do research before you buy. Alot less surprises happen that way.

I'm a huge Hans fan since 9 of my discus are his and they have been amazing to grow out, but I also have to put in a plug for Johns Discus. He's also in the sponsor section and the 5 pigeons I received from him in June are gorgeous, super healthy and have grown like weeds. Biggest piggies you ever wanted to see. =)

I have had discus from Macs via the local pet shop before 2000 and they were healthy and had some very nice ones I would definitely recommend Johns discus before ordering from Macs discus
