I got the Reflection D's from Mike Beals on Sept. 24 (11 days ago) and a number of them seem to have grown! Lately I have been feeding them 12 to 15 times a day small meals. Beefheart, Marine mix, Mysis shrimp. Hikari Bloodworms, White worms, red worms, FDBW, Sera granuales, Tetra min flake. These guys are attacking whatever is tossed into the tank.

I have also been able to do two 60 to 70% waterchanges each day. They are getting used to them too.

I will photograph each fish individually and post them here so we can all see how the group colors up as thet mature.

Here is a photo of the crew I took this morning.

They are good eaters.

It's easy when you only have one tank. If I had 40 aquariums like some of you it would be a lot more work with waterchanges, cleaning.....been there!

Do you use an autofeeder or are you home all the time?

Dawn and I are home most of the time. We are both disabled and both of us do home hemodialysis. Doing my water changes while she is doing her treatment seems to be working out well. She never sees me doing maintanance and she loves feedng the fish. When they beg, she gives them a little LOL!

What a wonderful hobby for you to have. They are going to be big fat discus in no time at all.

we were feeding them about 15 times a day. Even with two 60% water changes a day, we had a planeria outbreak. So I increased the WC's (did a couple 90%) and added some Prazi powder....bye bye flatworms. We are feeding smaller portions...and the fish seem to be doing well.

Take a look at the photo. The fish at the top of the picture runs the tank. In life, the eye doesn't look as big as it does in the photo. This is also the fish with the least impressive shape. Four of the others are much better.

Thanks Mad Discus! They are pushing 4 inches now. I bought them as 2.5 inches but several were closer 3.5 inches when I got them Aug. 24. I'm hoping to get 1 inch a month growth out of them by focusing on a variety of high protein foods, WC's and some live foods for good measure. Unfortunately, I destroyed my daphnia culture because there were some mosquito larve growing in there and it concerned me greatly= so I neetted a few daphnia then dumped the rubbermaid out on the lawn. I set up a smaller culture in an empty cat litter container (about five gallons) and in the lid cut a large hole with my saw and fitted some window screen. The screen is held in place by hot glue. The white plastic makes it easy to ensure all the wigglies in there are daphnia.
