My Discus tank is 30 gallon. One large Discus, 4 small ones. AquaClear HOB with a pre-filter sponge. I change the water 50% every other day. Did do a 90% water change about 2 weeks ago. Feed frozen Blood Worms, some sort of Discus pellets and occasionally flakes. I have another aquarium that is 29 gallons. 1 Angel, 6 Rams, 2 tetras 1 Pleco and 4 Cories. I only do a 20-25% water change on it at the same time I do the Discus. Same filtration system. The water in it is very clear, the Discus tank is not nearly as clear. Any ideas?

Substrate is a very shallow layer of sand.
I feed them the Blood worms , usually 1 time a day.
I use to have a Penguin with Bio wheels that made the water pristine! It got noisy, so, I switched to the Aqua Clear that everyone here raved about. I only had the 1 large Discus at that time though, so, I don't want to blame the Aqua Clear.
