Hi All,
I'm new to the discus scene and just purchased some 5 days ago...
I have a 3ft tank currently with:
4x Discus
12x Harlequin Rasboras
8x Sterbai Corydoras
1x L246 Catfish
Here is a youtube clip of my tank: youtube.com/watch?v=sTetv1d26eg
I'm not really sure what type of discus I have and I was hoping someone could identify the type and also tell me if I have bought stunted discus?
They are still relatively new and some are eating like pigs and some are still a bit reluctant.
Any opinions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Will

all four are pigeon blood based fish.. exact name of strain is from breeder.. but the main part is pigeon blood.. maybe the 2 more solid are marlboro red types..
Don't be surprised if you start seeing some peppering/black spots develop due to their genetics.. the black background will help to bring this on..

Welcome to the forum Will! Nice set-up, I like the wood as well. As Skip mentioned, all pigeon variety.

Thanks for the info guys, the tank is pretty much viewable in all angles so I have no background at the moment.
There is only one with very little peppering the others seem to be fine. I guess I'll see how it goes when they grow up more.
Cheers!

No its not manzanita.. I think it is gold vine. It's the wood they sell at your local LFS with tags.

Your tank is great. Thanks for sharing.
I live in Eastbourne - the sunniest place in Britain. That isn't really saying much...
Coffee please - black and strong in pint mugs, for best results at least 6 a day.

New update...
1 jumped out (runt) and another unfortunately didn't make it.
Bought a few new ones awhile ago. Removed the food for more swimming room.

Very nice layout. I am a really big fan of driftwood and you have a great piece.
Can't wait to get my new setup started because it has a 4 foot piece of driftwood just waiting for the tank
to arrive. :)
Well done!

Hi All, got some new discus. I was told one of them is a blue snake skin and the other is a ring leopard. Are these the correct names?

This really isn't a planted tank/biotope as you requested for the thread to be moved. Yes, that is a BSS and a ring leopard. If the leopard grows out more, the rings will develop.
