I saw a post somewhere recently that included spirulina as a food for their fry, at some age. I'm wondering if that's just adding some spirulina powder to the water, (adding algae?), or if it's in some other form. At what age would you start?

Some people use spirulina powder to mix into a paste with other dried food to feed to their fish. Do not just add it to water unless you are using it to grow on brine shrimp etc. The link below is to a page on the UK website of TA Aquaculture that may contain some useful information for you:

The next link shows how spirulina powder, and yeast, is used to grow on brine shrip:

I add the spirulina powder to darken up the yolk, this attracts the fry also, on day one.
