    Egg viablity

A bit premature here as the last spawn is still growing out at 3 1/2 mos. The breeding pair in the 60G community tank continue to spawn every 3-5 days. (The male is different from the first spawn.) They got to the wiggler stage a few times but most of the time the eggs turn white after a couple of days. My question is, could that be a water quality issue (TDS?) or something with that pair? Since they have gotten to wigglers before might the community tank water be the factor? I'd like to try another spawn and need to decide if I should go back to the original male?

Did you check your water hardness? If I feel that the water is too hard thats when I use RO.
Also some of the current types of Discus have the problem hatching these could be LSS and Eruption. You can keep spawning the pair and wait till you have a stronger hatching or go back to the original pair.

Thanks, the water is hard. I do have and use RO when moving them to the spawning tank. Will try that again once this current spawn are out. This was not a very successful spawn as only 17 attached and now we're down to a dozen with a few very stunted ones. Hope to better on the next one. The first attempt I had 55 grow out and didn't know what to do with them!

Sound like the male has a low sperm count. May want to alternate between the males between each spawns, this will give the males a rest too.
