I just purchased 2 discus about 4.5-5 inch from a petshop, definitely an unexpected purchase. They had the brownish discus labeled as a red rose, I strongly believe it's not a red rose..can you help me identify this discus please.

Re: Help me identify this discus....please
Definitely not a Rose Red or even Red Cover. Both look like a wild cross possibly, Curipera Cross...
Here are some examples of my Curipera X's
This one started out the same as the other but matured into this. Looks like Curipera genetics with throwback to Turq that may have been used in the cross...

Re: Help me identify this discus....please
Beautiful discus, hopefully mine develops into a beautiful addition to my collection. The petshop I purchased these discus from even had the blue discus as a blue diamond and they sold them way below price for discus of their size...so I had to take a shot...their in quarantine for now...I normally buy my discus from online breeders..I love my DiscusComment

The one on the lower right. What the store called a blue diamond, looks like a blue snake skin.Comment

Re: Help me identify this discus....please
Yes its definitely a blue snakeskin..It's a mom and pop type petshop, they had no clue what they had. They also had their discus in a 50 gallon bowfront tank with 2 fx6 and 2 power heads and 2 sponge filters...all the discus in the tank were stressed, dark and pinched foreheads. They could hardly swim..the 2 I decided to purchase was a chance buy. I been feeding them real good to fatten them up..the picture of them is after 2 weeks of treatment and heavy feeding and also trying to figure out what the brownish discus was..I love my DiscusComment
