    White, stringy, poop

My Discus has been pooping some weird stuff for about a week. It eats and is acting completely normal except for having some funky bowl movements. When the discus makes a quick turn or moves quickly the poop falls off and breaks apart.

I have been feeding a mixed diet of flakes and pellets 2-3 times a day. It has probably been over a month since I last fed any frozen foods.

I have added a few new plants in the last few weeks.

    Temp: 83°F
    PH: 7.6-7.8
    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 20 ppm (yikes!)
Did a 50% water change after seeing this.

The current setup is about 3 months old.
Tankmates are 6 zebra danios, hillstream loach, 4 ottos, kuli loach, one neon Tetra, 2 mystery snails.

Fluval 107 canister filter with an inline UVC clarifier and a Seachem Tidal 35. As well as a few air stones.

    I have the following medications available to me;
    Fritz Maracyn
    Fritz ParaCleanse
    Fritz Expel-P
    PraziPro
    API General Cure

If I need something else I'll have to order it.

I have to be able to treat it in its current aquarium that has lots of live plants. I don't have another empty aquarium set up. I do have a spare 10 gallon but it wouldn't be cycled.

I have not treated it with anything as of yet. I'm hoping it's just a little diarrhea and not something more serious.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This morning it's more brown like what I feed it.

Hi, I would start with expel P as i suspect your dicus has worms... Unfortunately I can't guarantee the snails will survive. What you are seeing in the feces is intestinal lining and mucous being sloughed off. Its just a best guess, but its a a good one.

Are those Mystery snails and Hillstreams loaches I see? I am a bit surprised they are doing well at 83F.

Surprisingly the mystery snails and the hillstream loach are doing very well. I will start the Expel-P treatment first thing in the morning.

                Appreciate your help.

                  Use Expel-P and not ParaCleanse?

Yes..expel-p contains ...ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Each packet contains 113 mg levamisole hydrochloride.

Levamisole is by far a better and more broad spectrum dewormer than the praziquantel found in Paracleanse.

                    I would start with that.
