    Laying down discus

    Hello S.D,

I've had a run of bad luck recently!

My filter blew up last night so I had to transfer all my discus fish into another tank that was quarantining some Corys (they had been in there for 2 weeks and been dewormed etc with no signs of parasites). They were in here for approximately 5hrs whilst I cleaned and replaced the filter. during this period Ammonia and nitrates were constantly monitored and were all fine

One of the discus since has been laying on his side. He corrects him self and stays up right for a bit but eventually falls back down.

I've placed him into a hospital tank and given him salt to the dosage of 1TBSP per 10 G and some kanamycin in case it's a bacteria infection from being in the second tank. There is no sign of any damage or bloat.

Is there anymore I can do?

Cheers Dan, just upped the salt.

He seems better and sitting up right for longer since giving the Kanamycin

Was there a temp or ph swing?

It could just be a drama queen. I have one that lays down every time she sees the water change hose, lol...

No Ph or temp swing, both tanks are kept exactly the same.

I feel like he's laughing at me since I rushed out this morning to get salt.

sometimes it can be indication of illness or improper water quality but they just does it for whatever reason. one of mine always does that only when sleeping at night time. laying motionless and stiff that it frightened me when i saw it for the first time.
