    Is this bloat?

    DISEASE QUESTIONNAIRE

    Problem

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

4 days ago, I notice the discus swimming head down, looks like stomach is bloated, darkening skin tone

    2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

Headstanding most of the time but still straightening when feeding. The fish does eat some. Some bloating noticed.

    3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

Added Epsom salts to whole tank at 1 tbs per 10 gallons after w/c for 3 days, some skin tone lightening, but still swimming head down

    Tank/Water

    4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish.

    110 gallon, 6 adult 2 to 4 years, 6+ in, 2 bristlenose plecos, - 3+ in, 2 months

    5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often).

    80% 3 times a week

    6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it?

    2 years, sand substrate , 1 1/2 inch

    7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.

Aged water 24 - 48 hrs. min PH .2 swing

    8. What type/brand water conditioner do you use? Do you add it to the tank or aging barrel? How much do you use?

Seachem safe added to the tank before w/c, 1/2 tbs

    9. Parameters and water source;
Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

    - temp 82F

    - ph 7.6

    - ammonia reading - 0

    - nitrite reading 0

    - nitrate reading <5

What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.

    - tap water

    10. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently.

    2 bristle nosed plecos

    11. Please tell us what you feed your fish and how often. This can be critical information for solving the problem so be as specific as you can.

    FDBW - 2 cubes - 2 times a day, algae wafer - 2 wafer - once a day

    12. Include any pictures or videos you have which shows the symptoms. If you can't add them to this post, please provide a link to them.

    13. What do you believe is the problem? ( many times hobbyists asking for help have already formed some opinions or sought help elsewhere. Being upfront here will save time and effort on the part of members trying to help.)

I'm not seeing any pictures on my end, but 2 questions. Is it swollen in the stomach area or is it more in the lateral line area just behind the mid-section?

Epsom salts is usually a fairly quick cure for traditional bloat from constipation. If this is the beginnings of an infection then you may need an antibiotic. Pure Kanamycin is an excellent choice for internal infection, but Kanaplex is a good choice if pure is not available.

Yeah, it looks like an infection setting in since the epsom salts doesn't appear to have been successful. I would hospitalize and treat with kanaplex at 1.5 the recommended dose for 10-14 days. I would also add 4-5TBS regular salt per 10g. Daily water changes and redose kana and replace the percentage of salt removed during the water change. Complete the treatment even if it's looking better.

Hopefully you're catching it early on and it'll recover.
