IMG_9914.png Another one with a health issue. It must be where I’m getting these Discus. This one has a bad eye issue he’s developed in the past 2 week since I got him. Any idea what it could be and what Meds to use? I know I should quarantine but I don’t. I always in the past added Para guard when I added a new discus to my tank. 90 gallon with 2 canisters filtering it. I change 50% water 2 times a week.

Do you clean the substrate every time you do a WC? If not that will become an issue as time goes on. -
I'm far from an expert, but it seems like it's also pretty thin. I have no idea how people keep discus healthy with substrate. I'd personally get the gravel out of there ASAP and start changing a lot more water. Especially since it's more than one fish getting sick. I don't have discus anymore, but my discus' health for the entire time I had them was basically a 1:1 relationship with how well I was cleaning their tank/water. When I slacked off, they paid. For example, I was doing 90% changes every evening for a couple years or so. I cut back to 3-4 of those changes per week and eventually a fish or two would get sick. I'd up them back and they'd recover. That was with 8 fish in a 75. When they went to a 125 with a bunch of cories, I went to 3-4 90% changes per week and they seemed to be OK. Whatever he has he had when I got him. I clean gravel every water change. 2 times a week 50%. All my other fish are doing fine.Comment

I’ve been treating with micro lift broad spectrum medicine while changing water everyday and raising temperature to 90 degrees.Comment

Microbe Lift isn't really a medicine. It's an herbal expellant, whatever that means. It's a pretty good in certain situations, but not here. I would place in a hospital tank and treat this fish with a combination of salt, nitrofurazone and kanamycin before this turns internal. The chances of the eye returning to 100% is slim. If it recovers, I would then treat for internal parasites with levamisole about two weeks after the antibiotic treatment.Comment

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I do not have a spare tank to use as a hospital tank. If I add those meds you recommend would it hurt the other fish in the tank?Comment

You might want to lower your temp back down to 82 if you're treating for bacterial infection.Comment
