    Wild Discus Medicating

I noticed last week that one of my wild discus had some white pop so yesterday I set up the hospital tank. I started medicating with Metrocleanse and salt @ 1 Tbs per 2 gallons. I also noticed that it was very thin and a growth on it's guill. Should I do more for that growth than salt? All other discus seem to be OK in the 120-gallon tank but time will tell.

Update: added 1 mil of FmG per 10-gallons. 20260925_100710.jpg

Good choice to use a quarantine tank and treat, with signs of white poop. As for the gills hard to say but looks like a secondary bacterial infection to me. Possible been scraping gills on something because of an eriation like flukes. Also keep an eye on the other fish just in case they are infected as well. No a good idea to combine treatments. Let the current one run its course and if no improvement then consider more options.

Chuck it does look like its got a few things going on they may or may not be related.

I would not use the fmg right now. Its a really strong irritant on open wounds which maybe going on in the gill. I would instead add salt at 1 tablespoon per 1 gal to ease the gill irritation and stress and it may help heal the gill. Using Metro is a good idea but you will need to carry that out 7-10 days.. Shoot for a concentration of 500 mg per 10 gal. JEHMCO.COM is a great source for pure metro

Maintain that salt while using the metro for several days and see if it helps with the gills. If it doesnt ypu may need a round of antibiotics like nitrofurazone that should work on a gill infection. Kanamycin can also be used if you.have that instead.

I will continue with metro (I have some pure metro also) and salt. I do have Kanamycin for later if needed. Thanks Al

I got them from Rio Negro Discus. I don't know how much of a selection Daniel has now, but you can contact him.
He was a sponsor here for a short period and I haven't visited his place in a while. I know he was making some changes to his fish room the last I texted with him.
