I purchase sliced beefheart from the grocery store and trim fat, veins and membranes. I cut the beefheart into 1/2 inch chunks and freeze.

No other ingredients to disolve in the water. They get flakes or bits earlier in the day to supplement their diet.Comment

Great Post Carol!
This idea should prevent a lot of clogged filters, and bacterial infections!!!!!!!
Your fish prove that all of that other junk is not needed in the Beef Heart!
The wonderful part - it is easier!
No more meat grinder, blender, and stove. The wife may even let me use the kitchen!

Re:Carol's beefheart - will not disolve in tank!
Carol,
I'm using your idea ;D
My discus will not eat store bought frozen beefheart ???
it just sits there and I end up throwing it away. I have purchased 3 of them from my store but they were not sliced because they come in a vacuum packed bag. I cut off all the fat and skin stuff (shinny film) and cut them into squares. Right now they are in the freezer. Tomorrow I will salad shoot them everywhere LOL. Hopefully they will eat this beefheart. Otherwise I do not know what I'm going to do with it all LOL!
I can always ask my local aquarium if they want any LOL.I have 40 peafowl, 2 horses, 10 N. goats, 2 Emu, lots of chickens, ducks and geese, 6 dogs and a cat LOL! Discus coming again soon!Comment

Re:Carol's beefheart - will not disolve in tank!
With any new food it will take them a few days to start eating it. On your next days off offer a small amount first thing in the morning when the are hungriest. Generally I like to feed beefheart about an hour before water changes.Comment

Great idea Carol!!! I've searched in Canada and can't find a salad shooter. If anyone finds one in Canada, please let me know where.
