    100 GL Royal Cuipeaus Tank

    Hello guys,

So it’s been an ABSOLUTELY crazy last couple of weeks….

Anyway, I finally received my Royal Cuipeau discus from Wattley today!

UPS messed up TWICE and I ended up losing both shipments. Gabe worked with me throughout the whole way and everything got figured out! He was very accommodating and understanding even though the lost shipments were not his fault!

Very disappointed in UPS but thankful to finally have them in my tank..

    Here are some pics!

Kenneth, Congratulations in your new fish. They look a bit stressed right now so please follow up with pics when they have settled In.

I would love to hear the back story on the lost fish. Things happen in transit , its part of the risk..but to lose them twice is not something I have seen before. Ups must have really messed up.
Anyways.. enjoy your new fish.I hope you will post frequent updates.

        Al, thank you!

Yes they are stressed as I just received them today.

Yeah UPS was an absolute mess. It resulted in a loss of some beautiful wild discus but I’m glad everything got figured out, and that Gabe was so helpful in remedying a situation that was due to no fault of his own.

I can’t wait to see these settle in and color up

Hi Kenneth, you can add salt (table salt) to the tank (2 tablespoons per 10 gallons) to help them deal with the stress. Be sure to check for a mini-cycle the first week.

Very nice fish and good luck with them, I must know your secret on how you have your tanks set up vertically and not get the water to pour out of the lids on top!!! LOL

              lolol.

So quick update: currently I’m trying to get them to take vitacomplete discus granules.

So far no luck but I’m not going to budge. I know they’ll take to it soon enough. It helps that I’ve got cories in the tank that’ll eat it

A couple of them have picked at it but still not taking to it yet. I know it’s a patience game though.

                  They won’t let themselves starve

In my experience, it's best to find a pellet that they enjoy. I have had mine not eat for days/weeks. At that point, you are risking infection.

                      I understand.

I’ve had wilds take to pellets before, but I hope they’ll take to it soon

These are wilds not domestics. They arent going to easily take pellets and you really want them eating asap as they probably have not been eating well since caught.

frozen hikari bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, freeze dried blackworms, live blackworms, live white worms. etc

Get them fat and healthy first.. then once settled in work on the diet shift to pellets

Whattley uses Tropical. It is hard to find in America but last time I checked Gabe sold it.

Hey, I did order the Tropical through Gabe and have it in hand!

Yeah he told me himself that he was feeding them this and beef heart.

My recommendation is to use this until (as Al said) they acclimate, get stronger. Then, try to slowly mix in the pellets that you want them to take. FWIW.
