Discus QT and source questions

Hi folks, I’m planning to get 6–8 discus around 3.5–4" and would really appreciate some advice:

1. Where to buy: Anyone on the East Coast, especially around NJ, that you’d recommend? I was considering DiscusMadness in NJ, but my last experience was mixed... some fish were excellent, but a couple weren’t very healthy.
2. Quarantine tank: Can I quarantine 6 to 8 medium-sized discus in a 30-gallon tank, or should I bring my 75-gallon tank down from the attic?
3. QT process: What quarantine process (both time and medication) do you recommend to make sure I do it properly this time?

Can't really help much with a seller other than Hans but he's in Delaware. Pingco's is in Boston but I'm not sure if he's still selling discus. I'm not a bug fan of Discus Madness. I've seen some nice discus come from there and I've seen some culls as well.

I would recommend the 75g for that many fish.

I would definitely talk to Hans. I have no experience with Discus Madness and they have never been part of the Forum Community here. Like Brian,I have seen some nice fish from them, but I have no clue on the source of the fish, nor have I ever bought from them.

Hans on the other hand, I have known for what seems like forever in the hobby, and have bought from him many times over the years.I have never been disappointed. He is also extremely supportive of the hobby and the forum which is in my book a solid reason to consider purchasing from him. You are only a few short hours away.

Disclaimer, I consider him a good friend , but my assessment here is based on my Discus Experiences., Hope that helps.

I'll add another vote for Hans. I bought my discus from him, zero complaints about the quality of the fish. Very personable and helpful when asked.

Hans is awesome to deal with and his knowledge expands decades. You can't go wrong with him, I spent plenty of time over his shop when he was in Maryland.

Hans is a great guy. I have meet him in person and he is very knowledgeable about discus. I have not bought discus from him because I only keep wild discus.
