Need advice on how to save my favorite discus

Hello all i am new to this site. I have a discus that is sick and i need advice. He started to headstand after treating my tank with Metro for 10 days with increased heat. Today is day 5 and he is now laying down in a 10 gallon qt tank that i put him in yesterday with 1 tbsp of epsom salt. Fish showed no signs of sickness prior to the 10 day metro treatment. He is my biggest fish at close to 7inches and is not skinny at all. I am at a loss on what to do. ph is about 8.2 no ammonia or nitrite. nitrates typically never went above 40ppm in my main tank. Can someone please guide me i dont want to lose him.

Re: Need advice on how to save my favorite discus

Welcome to SimplyDiscus Rob! Sorry to hear your troubles. Metro is a very mild medication and I seriously doubt this is the cause of your fish's head standing. There may have been an underlying issue before treatment began. While 40ppm nitrates is pretty high, I'm not sure nitrates were a main cause, although I have always susptected that high nitrates have had an association with head standing. Opinion only, but it also relates to overall bioload and water quality.. Can you let us know why you treated with metro in the first place? And can you post a picture of the discus?

      1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them? Hello everyone I am new here and last week I treated my main tank (135g) with Metro for 10 days with elevated heat 92F while simultaneously feeding 1mm pellets of double metro from
