    Rambo it is!!

As a loss of a beautiful discus, it makes me frustrated and sad. The last year has been a depressing chapter in my discus hobby. But as a breeder, I didn't plan on putting that pair together again anyway. You know the reasons. Maybe she would have produced better genetics with a different male and she would have made me proud, but now we'll never know...

Brian, I have to commend you for your commitment and tenacity for these fish. Like Al, I wouldn't have expected that fish to survive and with it being that dark with the eye issue I would have struggled with the decision to keep it alive. I'm happy that your hard work for these fish paid off and they've recovered.

These are much tougher fish than a lot of people give them credit for...
            Brian,
I am so sorry to hear that, there is nothing worse that deal with a sick fish. It literally makes me sick to my stomach. I know people say you keep fish, you will kill fish. Glad you did not give up.

It is even worse feeling knowing you have put a lot of blood, sweat and tear in your breeding program. I hope things turn around quickly and your efforts are rewarded.

The ultimate drama queen. I haven't even started adding water yet and this gal always turns black and lays down at the first hint of a water change, lol...

                Don't worry, she's fine...

She probably knows about your water problems and is either scared to death with the russian roulette water or is just practicing .

Very true! But the cube of FDBW's she saw in my hand had the reverse affect

BTW, my water is still unpredictable. Ph is still 8.3 but hardness has risen from 390 to 520. I'm thinking of adding a heavy metal cartridge to my whole house filter, or just going reconstituted RO. I never had these issues until the water main issue last year...

I saw the pic before I read the text. I thought that she was dead. Drama queen is right! I have a sissy pair. They hide behind the cone the moment they see me approach their tank with the siphon hose.

Here are some of Rambos offspring. Nicely shaped and colored discus that are just not big at a little over a year old. They aren't stunted and haven't been sick, they are just genetically small as the result of a bad pairing. However, I would like to cross them with another genetic line and see how the f2's turn out...

They might be small but they've got some great patterns!
