1. You don't have to stay at the hotel but if you choose not to you will be making a HUGE mistake. One of the best parts of the Show happen in-between and after all the scheduled events. Having to leave to 11 or 12 PM and go to another hotel will mean you will miss a lot of impromptu discussions that happen. I usually don't make it to bed till around 2 or 3 and if I had to drive to a different hotel at that time and be back early in the morning then it would be no sleep for me. Seriously, you WANT to stay at the hotel. You and your wife can drive into downtown during day if you must.

2. There will be equipment and discus for sale at the Show. At the last Show in Austin we had a good number of vendors at the Show selling their products and there were a lot of discus for sale by both hobbyist and Sponsors/Retailers. Most of the Show fish can be purchased but we also have a vendor area with tanks of discus (and a few other fish) for sale.

3. There will be scheduled talks by Internationally acclaimed Speakers. A lot of my favorite discus books are now autographed thanks to them speaking at the Shows.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! While hanging out and having a few beers with my fellow discus enthusiast, sounds like a great time to me. My wife would probably file for divorce shortly afterwards. While she loves our discus, and would want to come to pick out some new discus for our tanks, she isn't as excited about the details of keeping discus.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! While hanging out and having a few beers with my fellow discus enthusiast, sounds like a great time to me. My wife would probably file for divorce shortly afterwards. While she loves our discus, and would want to come to pick out some new discus for our tanks, she isn't as excited about the details of keeping discus.

You are right on that. I have said this before but this will be my last time serving as the NADA show chair. The local group has been doing great but after this one I am merely a consultant.....LOL. Like always this will be a great time.
