    Batch 2 2009 contest fish(apd) x F1 (ogon yellow white x ARSG)

Pair is one of my F1's (albino Red Spotted Green x Ogon Yellow white) x one of the 2009 contest fish purchased from Chad Hughes. Be interesting if these make it, as I not only can document the developement of the fry, but the parents as well. There are about as many fry on the other side of the mother and I apologize for the color, I played around with it to display the fry a bit better. Interesting that 90% of the fry are attached to the albino parent.

Dad is showing a lot of pepper as he has darkened up for the fry. Typically he shows virtually no pepper. There should be 50% albino's in this group, but to hard to tell at this stage. Here are some better pictures of the parents:

Should be an interesting batch, ill be following this one, at some point hopefully I can learn some from you about the albino gene and start playing around in that direction. Dad really darkened up for the fry there, I find that a very unique aspect of pigeon breeding.

            Week 2:

Quite the assortment of fry these two have thrown. Although it doesn't show in the pictures I am guess at least 4 maybe 6 types of fry ranging from Pb's to albino's to white/yellows to even what I think (hard to tell at this stage) might be some non-pb's. My guess at this stage is that the 2009 contest fish were Pb crosses heterozygous-only one pb gene).

This picture also reminds me that I need to stop procratinating and put a background on that tank

I am going to grab my SLR and try to take some better pictures of the fry to show the differences in types later hopefully.

Super nice! Crazy how much Dad changed after the spawn and fry rearing. You did a phenomenal job growing him out. Such a wide range of fry as you mentioned there were some non-pb and non-albino. Maybe RSG? Will be quite the story to watch them develop out!

Thanks Eddie! Admittedly Dad wasn't my first choice to breed with this female, but she has proven to be most difficult to force pair with another male APD I had selected for her. I liked the novelty of having a representative of the 2009 contest in this contest, so I allowed her to choose her mate. At least he does have some yellow in his genetics so it could be interesting to see what kind of fry they throw.

                              Looking for food:

Currently getting fed Al's FDBW's as a staple(two feedings) Super beaf heart flake (1x), cobalt Flake (1x) and some NLS growth pellerts intermittantly. Feedings are typically at 6:30 am, 4:15 pm, 7:30 pm, and 11:00 pm. Two 60-80 % water changes a day, one at 5:15 pm and one at 11:00 pm. I have one HOB filter and one sponge filter in the tank. temperature is set to 82.5. I use 100 % RO water with just enough RO waste water to bring my TDS up to around 70 ppm. PH is typically at or about 7.6-7.8, but I honestly don't monitor this much at all.

Getting fed Al's Freeze Dried Black Worms ran through a coffee grinder:
