Batch 2 2009 contest fish(apd) x F1 (ogon yellow white x ARSG)
I apologize for the late update, but photobucket has been having some real issues of late and I could not upload these friday. Starting to see some difference in size, but this is mainly due to the fact I have three-five different types of offspring from this cross. Different strains grow at different rates and as you can see the pigeon bloods seem to be outpacing the browns. Currently down to 30 fry (I think, hard to get a good count on these little guys).
I am liking this batch, there might be a few very interesting offspring resulting from this cross. I have some yellow/orange fry, some light yellow fry, some brown based fry that are starting to show yellow (?), and a 50-50 mix of pb to non pb fry (this tells me that the 2009 contest albino does not have any pigeon blood genes. It is going to be hard to choose 8 from this batch to move forward for the contest with so many different types.
A little slower growth on this pair that I attribute to genetics. It's going to be hard to select 8 to work with do to the different and various types this pair produced......open for suggestions? They are feasting on Bill's (inland empire discus) super beafheart flake with pro-growth. I tried to get some pictures without food but they were to spastic and would'nt stop begging for food which doesn't make for good pics.
Yeah, tough call on which to choose. I know it would seem appropriate to choose 1 or 2 from each. If all else fails, I'd choose the best shaped and most robust but thats just me.
