    w/c overkill ?

    I have a 75 w/5 discus ranging fro 6-1/2 to 7-1/2. 2 hydro 5s. Feed 3x/day, discus chow fdbw[sparingly] and ocean nutrition.
    No problems with health issues.
    Question- I do a 80 % w/c m,w, f. on A sat. or a sun. a 95-98% w/c.
    Is this over kill?
I know there folks out there who say you can't do enough w/c but I'm sure there are reasonable limits.

Jay, you can do a 100% a day and have success.Though true that you can never do too much water changes in terms of the fish provided its stable water going in.. There is a point of practicality where depending on numbers of fish, age of fish, and foods, filtration that your Practical return is no different if you do 100%..80%,or gasp.. 30%
    in your tank.

    Question- I do a 80 % w/c m,w, f. on A sat. or a sun. a 95-98% w/c. .. To me with fish 6.5-7.5 "
you arent going to see a significant rate of return on that investment of time and water.

Most of my adult tanks get 30% everyother day.I.can not age enough water.here for all tanks and 30% is the most I can do from my tap. My discus grow big and live long.

note.. I am talking young adults and adults.. not fry and juvies.. there you will see a greater return on your water changes.

6.5-7.5 what Jay? If centimeters, not over kill. If inches, as Al said, unnecessary for big adults.

I do 2 50% a week. Mine are similar in size. I’d say you can slow down the water changes. Do what I do and watch the fish. They will tell you quickly if there not happy. Look for discus pimples.
