Your new geos remind me alot of threadfin geos, Acarichthys heckelii,, which are by far my favorite geo!

I looked up Acarichthys heckelii Al on youtube Al. I can see why you like them and very similar to G. Sveni. Are threadfin geos an actual geo?

^ They aren't a true geo, no. Their genus (Acarichthys) is in the Geophagini tribe but they were separated out of Geophagus a long time ago. Some people still sell them as geos, though.

Those look more like Geophagus altifrons to me but I'd need closer pictures or video to know for sure.

They are altifrons. Unfortunately the short spine makes them a cull IMO.

Love Geo's...I keep Red Head "Tapajos" and Winemilleri with my Discus and they seem to do really well. Sveni and Mirabilis are the two "hot" geo's at the moment and have not been readily available for very long. They are usually at spawning size around 4" and your fish look at least that large.

Sveni are an awesome strain of geo, I kept and bred rio tapajos for years. One of my favorite fish in the hobby.

Had these guys about a week and they are a bit skinny and ratty from being recently import but they are active and eating like pigs. They will become tankmates to my F1 Altums which currently reside in the 230.

These guys look great SHP. Do you still have them? Did you bred them in the 230 with the Altums? Beautiful trailers. Stunning geo's!

Thanks but I do not have them anymore. I was spending so much time with my elderly parents that all the fish suffered. My parents are now in an assist living situation and my life has finally returned to normal.

Where did you find these gems? Awesome looking fish. tfs

They look a lot like my 9 Geophagus Proximus that are in a 110 gal. six footer.They stay mostly at the lower level of the tank sifting through the sand.They do need sand.I have #2 silica.I've never had such clean substrate.They are not aggressive to each other nor other species.
