Solar dehydrator..maybe

I was going to get the electric dehydrator out of the attic and dry some hot peppers.

Its a pretty crisp day here so I thought I try a solar one.. sundried is what we had long before electric ones.. The weather has to be sunny and dry.. which it is here. Thought I would make it more efficient with a fan. I am still considering it solar as the Fan is solar charged.

I've seen people use solar before and it does quite well. They layer sheets of glass with the food between. I'm not sure what they do about circulation. I'd think it would get pretty hot.

I would absolutely step right on that sucker the first time I went down the steps. Peppers look good!

What's the plan with those dried peppers Al? Making your own pepper flake?

It would never work here in Mississippi. We have lots of hot sun, but also high humidity.

I do that Jake but this batch is earmarked for my car kit. I keep a complete cook kit in each of our cars... stocked with freeze dried meals, ramen and coffee and teas. Freeze dried back packing meals are great as they only need water but some are bland..add a few cayenne or jalapeno chunks when rehydrating makes them delish.

Most of my free time is spend outdoors .. these car kits really help fill the tank when its empty

Car kit Al? man, you are always prepared! My to go snack in the car is a breakfast bar (for those photography trips) but yours sound way better.

Pat I have a complete grab and go back pack bag in each car too.





I'm a firm believer in taking steps to deal with emergencies before they happen. ..aka Im a prepper.

of course nutrition bars and beef jerky are in my camera bags too.. cant beat them for convenience
