Pat It was nice walking around with it. My circumstances currently really haven't allowed for it. Usually end of summer/fall migration is when I am most out and about here.. missed much of that . ..but winters not too cold for pics here most of the time and our winter ducks are returning.Hopefully I can get out more.

This walk was pretty sparse on critters but the heron in flight was a good capture and though tree rats are common.. I enjoy taking their pics. Particularly happy with the back lit shot.

Nice pics, Al. As always. Blue herons are kind of underrated. About the most skittish bird you'll find (at least around here), but always cool to see.

They are Jacob. I really enjoy watching them and am glad that unlike alot of marsh birds here they are resident year round. They really are a majestic bird... their only flaw is they are not what you would call melodious lol!

I think its a safety in numbers response. When ever I see herons solo or in areas with vrry low shorebird densities I have to go into stealth mode or they spook easy and are gone! But if theres alot of other shorebirds around I find them fairly steadfast, especially if preening or hunting. Florida has a much higher shorebird density so maybe thats why they arent skittish for Pat yet can be for here and Jacobs area.

That could be, Al. They visit our ponds occasionally and if I even happen to notice them they're gone. Snowy Egrets and Green Herons are less jump IME.
