Birds live in a very dangerous world just like the rest of us. Probably one of the biggest threats to songbird nests are Crows and Blue Jays. They will go into a Nest an eat the eggs and chicks of birds when they find them. I always knew Crows where bad news for nests but I never witnessed it until the other day. I was in the yard and heard a ruckus in the trees. Lots of song birds angry and lots of crows. That almost always means a predator like a hawk is there. So I grabbed the camera to see. It was a predator, but there was no hawk..it was a crow. Mom and Dad Robin tried to drive it off but it ignored them. It was pretty far away in a tree top but Heres what I saw.

Can't see much but the blue egg shell of the robins and the relatively massive bill of the crow.

Damn crows. Down here, Cowbirds are the main predators of songbirds' eggs.

Nasty birds! They and Blue Jays keep leaving dead animal parts in my bird bath. They do this to foul the water so other birds can't use it.

When I was eastern Europe, I heard crows all around, but I didn't see any until I realized the pigeons I thought I was looking at were actually crows.

Thought this was a cooking thread based on the title lol. Crows get a bad wrap and they do deserve it but they are also super intelligent. I have raised two crows, one as a kid and the other as an adult. I still have Black Jack's story thread tucked in my homesteader.

        That was tough shooting Al.
