    Hudson River Area,NY ( HydePark, Saugerties,Kingston)

Spent some time this last weekend in the Hudson River Valley area, NY. Its a short drive from my house and was something we wanted to do but hadn't. Hyde Park is an interesting town. Its where the home of Franklin Roosevelt(FDR) is located and you can visit his home and Presidential Library there. We visited the home and took the tour and saved the Library for another day. We also walked around the Vanderbilt estate but saved the inside tour for another Day. While in the Area we hit up the towns of Kingston and Saugerties.

I took alot of Black and White images. You can take pics in FDR's Home but no flash . I know not everyone iikes Black and white but honestly there are some things that it just works with. The more I shoot it, the more I am captivated by it.

Won't boor you with all the pics but here are some..

Lol.. the silence of the crowds is deafening! I know Black and white is not exactly for everyone. It's kind of like common wild discus compared to domestic " paintball" discus... But there's a certain aesthetic you get from Black and White (and wilds). Hard to explain I guess.

So Since I posted them humor me just alittle. please. Pick the black and white image you like the best of the thread and tell me what you like about it. I'm curious how people view these. Personally I am really thinking about getting a few printed as enlargements on metal. I will share which ones in a bit after I get some feedback.

    Thanks!

I like B&W. When I was a kid in the dark ages I had a cheap B&W processing kit from Sears. I was never any good at it and couldn't afford such an expensive hobby. The closest store to buy supplies was fifty miles away. Eventually I had to choose between photography, girls, motorcycles, and cars. Still have the motorcycle I bought fifty years ago. I really need to restore it.

Gary, I got into developing black and white film during the pandemic...I didn't use expensive developers though, I used coffee..also known as Caffenol.

I have a freezer full of film I bought then.I started with film in my hobby and shot print and slide but didn't develop it.
        From the pandemic...

I have a box full of film cameras just itching to be used. I have collected these since I was young. No motorcycle. Here Gary but I would love to see pics of it!

Al, I thought I had commented on your post here but I guess not. I really like the FDR house interior photos. B&W really seems to work for certain subject manners (IMO) of course. I will go through the lot later today and pick a favorite (or two) lol.

Somehow I missed this thread as well. I like B&W photos, but I'm not really one who usually likes photos of architecture. That photo of the tree stump though? Idk why, but I really like it!
