    NAAN Bread anyone

My family loves Naan bread and honestly I love how quick and easy it is to make.. My recipe is not really authentic but It gives me what I want and works great in my cast iron skillet.

Can't beat simple ingredients like flour, water , salt and then either a little yeast or baking powder.. (the leavening ingredients vary greatly) and some plain yogurt. Mix together shape and roll out flat... heat the pan to high.. no oil needed... press it down brown each side until almost burned. Depending on how thick you make them they can be made into pizza or in this case english muffin/bagel substitutes...

These are also great for sopping up curry and gravy. This batch I put a nice cream cheese spread. Click image for larger version

Brian this is my basic recipe..

This tasty, fluffy easy Naan Bread recipe is ready in just 15 minutes with 4 simple ingredients! A quick yeast free bread or flatbread!

some use butter or olive oil.. but these aren't used in traditional Naan bread.. though they taste fine. You really don't need the baking powder either..its a quick cheat though.I have used yeast and just don't let it rise much and I have made it with no leavening at all.

I really love home made bread but to make it takes hours.. this takes mins

Do you mix by hand or with a mixer?

I wanted to get into making sourdough a short time ago but got sidetracked (big surprise). After the kitchen remodel I'd really like to experiment with breads. Yours won't take a kitchen remodel to get going! It looks delicious and fun!

I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine and naan has to be my favorite vehicle for scooping up sauces/curries/etc. I've made it several times myself and it is a simple to throw together item that is delicious. I enjoy rolling naan out large, similar to what you'd get at an Indian restaurant, cooking them off, then slathering them in garlic butter.
