I'm not that big on cakes, but this really rung my bell. I can't wait!
Just a couple more months till blueberries ripen

There's still one not far from me, also owned by non spring chickens, but still going. You can buy them there picked for you, too. My 2 14 year old bushes produce a ton, but I never seem to make it in the house with them. I pop them straight into my mouth.
I've bought blueberries both from the supermarket and from fruit stands but they never measure up to the ones picked fresh from the bush.Mama Bear😎 1Comment

I haven't done a thing to mine in all the years Ive had them. I did prune them once, but the harvest was so reduced that I haven't done it again. I may have no choice this year. some of the branches are too tall for me to reach to bend over.Mama BearComment

I have multiple prolific blueberry bushes between the house and the family farm property, the ones at home are only a couple years old (~5 years?) and are cuts from the main bushes at the farm. The farm bushes are as old as I can remember, I remember being a child picking off the same bushes with my grandfather in the summers, so we're talking decades old, core memories. Having fresh blueberries right off the bush is one of my favorite things about summer. I'm like you Liz, I eat them straight off the bush. I think I eat my weight in them before they make it in the house. I too don't do anything to the bushes, the ones at home I water but the others are basically left to their own devices. It is a bit of a struggle keeping birds out of the bushes at the house, smaller bushes so the birds cut into my take too much. I like a blueberry peach cobbler during the summer. Fresh blueberry pancakes too. Can freeze enough to have all year as well though not quite the same as off the bush.
This is a photo from 2020, but the bushes just produce hefty berries. I can already taste them looking at this.
