NOSTALGIA : Re: the most popular chefs of the past, say, 25 years

This morning Linda and I began recalling some of the best known chefs who gained and maintained their popularity on their TV shows:
Some of the main ones that immediately came to mind are, in no particular order:
    - Julia Child
    - Emeril Lagasse
    - Martha Stewart
    - Jacques Pepin
    - Lidia Bastianich
    - Jamie Oliver
    - Mario Batali
    - Giada di Laurentis
    - Bobby Flay
    - Rachel Ray

And there were several others, but our most favorite was, did you guess ? - it was Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa !

The reason I mention her to you on this post is that sh'e still going strong, having re-vitalized her repertoire of relatively new recipes which I would say, are real winners.

She can be seen these days on the Magnolia network on Saturday evenings - if memory serves me right, it's around 5:00 or 6:00 pm I believe, Pacific time, but would then likely be 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. on the east coast.

Give it a watch if interested - it's among a number of other shows featuring, as an example, Chip & Jo-ann of Waco, Texas home renovation fame. (And Jo-Ann cooks wonderfully on her new cooking show).

As to Ina Garten, I just tried one of her newish recipes last night (Linda had none, as she's allergic to garlic, believe it or not)
I's a terrific version of Lemon and Garlic Chicken breast, which was absolutely/superbly different - I loved it !
You might want to look it up and give it a try sometime.

I've seen some on PBS that I like to watch when all my multi billion dollar company could muster was an antennae for the 2nd hand lunchroom TV. I don't remember the names, but a guy cooked authentic Mexican and some gal cooked Korean.

Afraid I can't add much here... I never watched cooking shows but I did learn from a pretty darn good Italian cook, My Mom. Having come over from Italy when she was a teen and living in a town area populated by Italian immigrants, it doesn't get more authentic than that. Its where I got my first foundations in cooking. More recently I have an instagram and facebook account that I use sparingly for my kids and FB Market place. In these I seem to have been flagged by their metrics as I get inundated with reels on cooking (and gardening). I will admit I have gotten some decent ideas from them. Could be worse I guess.

Brian, The guy was Rick Bayless. He had 2 shows on PBS. I love reading his recipes and watching him cook on YouTube. Don't know who the woman was.

Yeah, Rick Bayless - I have one of his cookbooks - fantastic authentic mexican recipes, if you like Mexican food - I've tried several of them - only problem is - getting some of the mexican ingredients he has in the recipes - not possible if you have no local source for getting them.
But Rick often mentions substitute ingredients, as he knows how difficult some of the ingredients he uses are to get.
