Hey Brian, I made Bar-B-Q sauce!
Like you suggested, I ended up boiling some watery left over liquid from my salsa canning. I ended up up using the salsa liquid and I used the left over liquid from canning Candied Peppers and green tomatoes.
basically the candied pepper liquid is sugar with cider vinegar and the heat of some peppers. The salsa liquid is. What's left after I make a batch of salsa and strain the good chunks for the jars.I usually use this as a base for hot sauces, chilis etc.
I waste nothing.
So.. I mixed the two in a pot last night which made a very watery Tomato soup ... Sweet and flavorful and hot.
I set it on my decks stove and boiled it down about 2/3 Volume over a few hours. The result is a very spicy hot and sweet Bar-B-Q sauce..It's very thick.. The heat from the peppers did concentrate a bit but it tastes really good. I'm just going freezer bag this batch. Minus some I will cook with the next day or so.
