Today I worked on my acrylic 55 gallon modifying the stand and adding a sump. I had the sump already so the cost of the pump was the only thing I did not have. So I ordered a pump and I will get it going as soon as the pump shows up.

I don't know if it needs the middle brace but it's removable for servicing.

It's too bad my company went out of business. I used to travel through your area every week and I'd love to come see your place and setup...

Once upon a time, so long ago that I can hardly believe it was true, I could work like that. I had a full time job then before and after, another full time job milking and caring for the dairy goats. Weekends when I didn't have to work for money I would haul hay or clean the barn. Barn cleaning took 3 full days since I'd put it off until the manure had been packed hard and was so high I would be able to touch the bottom of the hay loft with my hand. I took it in stride, but looking back it seems impossible. All the time I was working like that, I thought that I was making myself stronger. It was true with my muscles, but at the same time, I was putting a hard hurting on my skeletal system.

I had good intensions today. I wanted to sweep and mop, but first I needed to wash and change the sheets on my new king size bed. I did the bed first. Unless I get another spurt of energy with less back pain, that's all that will get done.

Jake, I envy you. I sure wish I could be strong like you once again, but it is what it is. Good luck with the trees vs wildlife.

Good morning all, first night in the new house. It was interesting, lots of new noises to get accustomed to also discovered that my light in the pool actually works and it cycles through a whole bunch of colors it’s pretty but, it shines through the bedroom windows and kind of lights up the bedroom, which is a little annoying. Unpacking boxes and making a trip to the pld house to feed fish, water changes and pick up more stuff. Hope all is doing well this morning.

Glad to hear the move has gone well so far Pat. There's always something new to learn when you first move in to a new place, like a light hits the room just right at just the right time of day to be annoying, etc etc. There are a few in our home too, such as between the hours of 6 and 8 PM, light comes into our basement windows at just the right angle to where if you were planning on watching TV, the light would be shining right into your eyes instead.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and is doing well this morning.

I hope you slept well, Pat. Small annoyances can be taken care of. How did Tom sleep?

I went to my primary doctor today since my cancer doc can't figure out why my potassium is high. It doesn't bother me, but it what the oncologist said I should do, so I did it.

When I got home I swepted and mopped. I felt guilty about not having been able to get that done yesterday. My neighbor had a crawfish boil so bought me a meal for today and tomorrow. Nothing's better than crawfish. Now I'm just taking a bit of a rest before WC. All things considered, it's been a good day.

Thanks Jake and Liz and yes, dealing with the nuances of the new house plus some of the prior work done to the house is not exactly great. My brother-in-law Frank has been working on the new house for a bit and he has been working thru some of the piss poor stuff done to the house.

Brian, if you see this Frank has the same standards you have regarding home improvements etc.

As you may guess I am posting from the new house this morning. Got up early and put together the computer and attached to the new network. No issues with that. Yesterday Mike (son-in-law) and I went to the old house and did some more packing. Feed and did WCs on the fish and loaded a 75g tank and stand which is now sitting in the garage. This should allow me to bring the fish to their new home this coming weekend. Excited about that I do need to clean the tank and stand however.

Liz, slept better last night. Mike showed me how to turn the pool light off and that helped a lot. Tom seems to be sleeping well. He can sleep anywhere lol.

Glad to hear that you are at the new house and working things out. The one thing I hate shabby workmanship. In my old house I had hired a guy to put in a small shower in the bedroom bath and he did such a crappy job that the next day after he finished I ripped it all down an redid it myself. Same thing happened here in my MD house, I hired a handyman (not so handy after all) to refurbished my deck and he totally messed it up and of course I had to redo it myself also. So I don't hire anybody for what I can do myself. So it's good that you have somebody that has high standards to do the work.
                  Enjoy the new home Pat.

My nieghbor is like Pat's Frank and you, Chuck. He is meticulous. When he gets home from off shore next week he'll be installing an externally mounted shower inside my bathtub. I love a hot soak, but getting out of the tub is getting more and more painful. With this external shower, I'll be able to set a handicapped shower chair in the tub. It will be especially nice to be able to take a quick shower to rinse off the sweat in this hot weather before I hop into bed. It'll also be nice for rinsing my hair. I'm little, so I fit under the tub faucet to rinse it, but that's getting harder as well.

As far as me doing DIY work I was not that great. I loved taking on new projects and was always able to get them done, but anyone could tell that the person who did the job was self taught. As long as what I did worked, I was satisfied.

I'm more in the functional camp, though it isn't... shoddy. Just not wildly great at details.

Got 50 bare root strawberry plants in the ground tonight after work. As well as two female hardy kiwi vines. A male will follow probably next spring. Also the last fruit tree for the year, a ranier sweet cherry.

Started to plumb in a new tank into the system easy job. Wrong slipped crashed into the main return pipe to a 200 gal sump and broke the pipe in half. Separated the overflows pipes to three 75 gal grow outs . Turned of the pump moved the fish from the 3 tanks to a another tank on a different system. I'm sure them discus were swimming around quivering and shaking laughing at the fool in the fish room. Never a dull day around here.

Liz, I am sure you will enjoy that shower once installed.

Jacob, I agree that somethings it is ok to be sloppy with but not anything electric, there were some voodoo writing in this house.

Brian, breaking your sump piping doesn't sound fun but perhaps the fish did get a laugh from that.

One of my 75s came home with me yesterday. It needs a good cleaning and the stand may get a paint job. On the new house end I am slowly organizing the kitchen. Have plenty of boxes to unpack and still trying to fit too much stuff into a smaller space.

Indeed Jacob, it gets a little better each day plus figuring out how to arrange our furniture in smaller spaces. I can't use the couch with it's two end tables. Too wide for the space so I will ditch the end tables and get a coffee table. Thinking comfortable and functional.

Yesterday I took my first swim in the pool. It was kind of nice
