So I have one 75 tank ready for water and Mike helped me get the right ends on the RV hoses to attach to the new filter from the guys who setup the water treatment system for the whole house. This new filter is specially for the fish. So the first hose runs from an outside water faucet to the input side of the filter and a another hose runs from output side of the filter to a WC change container where I will age the water. For testing purposes to check for water leaks we had the output side hose setting in the driveway. The filter is currently in the garage. No leaks around any of the hose connections and the water coming out of the filter has a TDS of 0. We left it running for a bit and the TDS did not change. Since my target TDS with wilds is 80 I will simply add a little salt from the salt using for marine tanks. My reason for doing this is to get a good mineral content for the fish. On the run to the old house I will be bringing back a large tank in which I will age my water.

Good morning, nothing but at work today and later returning extra materials to Home Depot. I will be starting my next project Mini split ductless ac/heat for gest bedroom and eating area. When the old owner built the extension he did not add ducts to it so no central AC/heat just electric baseboard heat. I just ordered the system.

Sounds like some exciting times Pat - getting that much closer to bringing the fish home!

I've seen lots of videos of mini-splits these days; what did you end up going with Chuck? Mr. Cool? Would love to hear your experience installing whichever mini-split you go with after the work is done.

I, too, am interested in mini splits. We're hoping to put an addition on our house and I'm hoping to handle the heating/cooling with mini splits.

I am working it all with my neighbor he is an AC pro. I went with a 2 zone 18K btu for the guest room about 320 sf without counting wall to wall closets. The other zone 300 sf is meant to add to the exciting central air that the ducts were not added. The unit is a TOSOT made by Gree and the pricing was very reasonable buying direct. I will keep you up to date on the project. The good thing it's a DYI unit, most require a Pro install to warrantee the hardware.

What is this new filter brand or type?

Chuck, I am not sure. I put in a request with the water treatment guys for a neutral ph and low TDS and this is what they came up with. The filter canister is over five feet tall and added about $1200 to the water treatment system installation. I will see what I can find out about it. Cocoa city water is scary. Besides chlorine they bleach the lines once a year about February. Mike (my son-in-law) says the water tastes nasty during that time. I told the water install guys the water treatment system had to handle that also.

He turned his back on me then ran away, but there's nothing to see anyway. Just a squirrel eating a wild mushroom in my front yard, lol...

I've seen squirrels eating wild mushrooms. The mushrooms didn't look too tasty to me, but they sure chowed down on them.

As long as they stay away from my pears, peaches, cherries and my garden, they can have all the mushrooms they want!!

I saw something weird yesterday. There is a tree next to the driveway which has a limb which arches over the driveway. I was preparing water for the 75 aquarium and I noticed two squirrels laying flat on the branch facing each other about a foot apart. I have never seen that. I grabbed the camera and took some photos which I will post later.

On another note I filled the 75 aquarium and added an airstone for aging the water. I have not added a heater yet. I got to thinking about how I was preparing the water for fish. So the fish filter is basically filled with D/I resin giving me a TDS of 2 (so far). My plan for adding minerals was to add some marine salt (used for saltwater tanks). Then I got to thinking perhaps I should bounce my ideas on water prep with a more experienced fish guy and I texted Al asking if I could call. I told Al my plan and he suggests the marine salt will not give all the minerals used by freshwater fish. He suggested adding some water from the house water if I could get the water before it entered the softener (softener water is not good for the fish). To do that I would need to ask the water treatment guys to add a faucet at the correct point in the water treatment. I asked Al if buying drinking water from the store would work and he say yes. So I have a (perhaps temporary plan) for prepping my fish water. I still need to do testing etc prior to bring the fish but getting closer.

Back when I generated RO (old house) water for my WCs I would add a "dash" of well water to the RO for a TDS of about 80 and the wilds seemed to love it. More later.

Good luck with your water, Pat!

I wonder if the squirrel goes on a little... trip... after eating your mushrooms, Brian.

I'm making pork belly burnt ends today for dinner. Also going to dig a bunch more wild parsnip. This has been a much bigger undertaking than I realized. But digging much of anything out of about 8 acres of space is always a big undertaking even if there's not much of it. Also need to do a little mowing, but I am not mowing as much as I normally do anymore.
