I had fish come in by SW Cargo yesterday also…
As some of you know I have kept & bred many tropheus varieties over the years. I have always loved tropheus red bishops, a line bred natural mutation of tropheus moorii "Caramba". Getting true red ones is difficult. They’re usually more orangey peach color, but still a pretty fish.
Anyway, I found some online advertised at 2.5” & $12 each, which in my experience over the years is a crazy low price for this size. The awesome picture displayed was a stock pic which the supplier said “is a good representation”, but they don’t do individual tank pics or vid. The reviews for the retailer were very good, loads mentioning size & quality beyond the description, so I decided to run the gauntlet.
My shipment arrived yesterday afternoon. After only paying for 1 box, the seller actually decided they would travel better individually bagged and in 2 boxes. No extra freight charge! To my great delight, the fish were advertised correctly size wise, and their quality right out of the bag blew my hopes right out of the water!
Heres a pic of 1 in the bag at the airport, then a couple pics about 10 minutes after temp acclimating and drop & plop!

Buying based on information is way riskier than buying with pics. I'm glad that they were as advertised and that you are delighted. I know absolutely nothing about these fish. I'm sure I'll be learning a lot. I love learning new things. Best of luck with them, Danny.

I totally agree Liz. The price I paid helped me take the risk. Even if they were small & like the more pale ones I've seen & kept, the price still would have been decent & resale pretty easy once bigger!
I think I will start another thread tracking their progress to breeding & rearing their fry. They are maternal mouth brooders. Interesting & fun to watch them reproduce!

They look like fun fish Danny and so glad they were such a wonderful purchase. The fact that they are mouth brooders makes them even more interesting. Looking forward to future videos of these guys.

Thank you Pat. More to come soon! They are in QT in a 40B atm. I have some spirulina flake & red color flake which the supplier fed them on its way as we speak. He fed the spirulina as their main stay & the red color flake every few days

I was just sitting around waiting to go to the radiation doctor and got it taken care of before I had to leave.

Speaking of the radiation doc, I saw him today. Except for the meet and greet appointment, this is the first time I had seen him. I got to ask him lots of questions and he answered all but one which is in my other cancer doctor's wheel house. The techs showed me the pictures of the scan. I couldn't make head or tails of them so I asked the doctor who reviews each one before my next treatment and he told me what he could see in them. It turns out that my little bit what might be cancer is right next to my intestines. The images show him how to best hit the target while avoiding my guts, although they have to put a bit of radiation over the entire area to prevent recurrence in another area, which is always possible. Now I know why the machine that zaps me zapps some areas way longer than others. I like knowing what's going on..

Then I asked to see the image of the PET scan they did before I had the treatments. I could actually see the cancer spot from several views. It is indeed very close to my guts.

I told him that my cancer has a mutation that differentiated it from what they call the wild type. He said that if he tried to explain it to me he would screw up the explanation. I'll have to ask my other cancer when I see him next month.

This was a fun time. For me, the most interesting part of having anything wrong with me medically is learning about what's going on. It's not as much fun as not having cancer at all, but it is fun for me.

Today is Friday so I have 2 days off from having to drive back and forth to Laurel. Maybe I'll get something done around here.

Thought all you fish geeks would enjoy this. I just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii. At a hotel where we had dinner one night, they set up bright lights off the shore to come on at dusk. The lights attract the phytoplankton, and the zooplankton follow the phytoplankton to feed. Then comes to Manta rays. I shot this off the balcony at the restaurant.

At my age, everything is irritating.
