    That looks yummy Jacob

With two hurricanes off the coast of Florida the weather should be rather unsettled the next several days. There doesn't seem to be a need to prepare for winds etc and I am thankful for that!

      Stay safe Pat.
We finally sold the condo we had in Ormond by the sea FL. Hope it fairs well for the new owner, it's right on the beach but we never had much happening.

Thanks great news Chuck and so far the weather here is normal except yesterday was a little breezy.

Today I hope to plant some plants I brought back from the old house. The plants are Florida native golden rod and big curl. Hope they will grow here near the coast.

Today is the Twin Cities Marathon. Went over to my friends' house which is at the ~9 mile mark to help set up balloons, a PA system, signage, flags, etc., to give the runners a boost of adrenaline. He's been doing this since the 90's.

The race starts at 8 am so the elite runners come by around 8:50 - running ~4.35 minute miles. Yes, they're usually Kenyans.

These guys/gals look like they're just jogging, but they're on pace to finish a marathon in 2:55.

Normal people also run the marathon, although only 10,000 entries are allowed.

                  Time for a nap.

Atlantic side Chuck but have the inter-coastal (Indian River) between us and the beach.

We ha a similar situation in Ormond. We were in between the Tomoka / Halifax river Intercoastal Waterway. We enjoyed it for many years specially when our daughter was younger and our friends would bing their kids. We kayaked the Tomoka river a few times.

That sounds like fun Chuck, when I was a kid growing up in Melbourne Beach my dad would launch the boat and we would cruise out to one of the man made islands in the Indian River. Also fun to explore these islands.

I'm heading out for my first deer hunt of the year. I shot some wood ducks last weekend in one of our ponds. The deer hunt tonight is mostly one to do a gear/systems check and otherwise do a "dry run". Won't be shooting a deer unless it's a big buck.

My dad requested a couple of them plucked and whole. I have zero idea what he is going to do. I asked him and he said "none of your damn business" haha. I've got one that I just breasted because it was very small. I'll sous vide that and then sear it with a blow torch. Otherwise, I'll confit it in a pan with some other fat... lard or butter. Not sure if lard would be a good idea or not. If he leaves me a whole one... I'm not sure what I'll do with that. Stuff it and roast it, maybe?

I’m very late getting set up for deer season this year. Just got my blind up last week on the gas easement that cuts through our woods, and I de-scent washed and hung my stuff to dry today.
I really don’t enjoy buck meat as much as doe meat. Small bucks are good too, especially if before or well after the rut. We have tons of doe and bucks in our area as our woods connect to an 800acre state park and there’s tons of ag land about.
Why only a big buck Jake?
