I hunted with my dad as a kid, mostly quail which are really great eating. A few times we hunted duck but I don't really care for the dark meat. Best of luck with the deer guys, hope you get want you are wanting deer wise.

Yeah, two nights ago they finished off the one that the squirrels chewed in half earlier this year the day after I planted it, lol... But I am keeping them busy. I bought 3 more trees last weekend and I'm thinking about electrifying the fences I'm putting around them

So who is decorating for Halloween? Personally I have never decorated for Halloween. Having lived in a house which was 800 or better feet from the main road plus you could not see the house from the road we never, ever once had trick-or-treaters. But this year my daughter reminded me that we could get trick-or-treaters at our Cocoa house.

So I decided to "decorate" for Halloween. My first step was to get a couple of human sized skeletons which we named Fred and Ethel. I will place on the front porch to "greet" any trick-or-treaters. Planning on zip tieing them to the chairs so hopefully they will not disappear. Also thinking of adding some pumpkins with lights inside to help "light the scene". I am also considering adding a few other touches I am still considering.

Not me. I do have a couple of skeletons I've put up in the rafters of my front porch before but they're stowed away up in the attic. We rarely see and trick or treaters anymore so I always end up eating the candy I buy, and I certainly don't need any more of that. Problem is, when I don't buy candy is when all the kids show up, lol...

Halloween is our favorite holiday, but the wife is usually the one who does all the decorating because I don't really have an eye for it. I'm just the one who builds/mounts things as needed. This year we've got our usual skeletons sitting in chairs on our front porch and pumpkins around. Added some jack-o-lantern light projectors to the front this year and we might end up with a very large skeleton in the yard sometime soon.

We're way, way too far from the road (or people, honestly) to have any trick-or-treaters. But that doesn't stop my kids from decorating the house with broken toys, various tools, collected chicken/goose feathers, and all sorts of other refuse. It's a bit haunting.

Unfortunately, probably not. I have a 5' tall x 6' diameter fence in a circle around mine and mine needs reinforcement.

That thought has crossed my mind but they're pretty far back from the house. Maybe I'll just break out the claymores

I've got deer that reach through and over the 5' fence I've got up. Looking back on it, I should have gotten a fence with smaller gaps. And then if I REALLY think about it. The best option is to fence the whole "orchard" area with something a deer is unlike to jump over and that would also keep rabbits out. But I'm not putting forth that kind of effort. If the deer would just do it during daylight hours/shooting I'd just hunt the trees, but of course it's never during that time.

Looking at yours, Brian, I'd expect that top foot or so to be eaten off pretty quickly. Unless moth balls work wonders. I know I've always heard that Irish Springs soap hung in a pantyhose will help deter them. But who knows...

Brian, The only thing that works is electric. You can buy a solar charger if you don't have easy access to an outlet. I bet there's a way to hook it up to a car battery, but I'm ignorant about that.
