Re: What are you up to today?

Todays a bit of a wild one and I'll be heading to the ER soon to get some stitches since I got a nasty cut yesterday that I haven't been able to get the bleeding to subside completely.

Tomorrow, I'm off on PTO and the entire weekend I have plans to play the new Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game

Yikes! Crazy glue to the rescue! Hope you don't need too many stitches! What happened?

I was cleaning up the food processor after making some AMAZING carne asada marinade when I let my finger get a little too close to the blade and sliced it pretty deep. I was able to manage the bleeding using, yep, super glue. I was chastised by the doctor, but hey it works. Six stitches later and we're all patched up!

It works great. The veterinarians I worked with years ago referred to it as skin adhesive but it was the same stuff.

The closest time I came to really hurting myself was about 5 years ago when I was still able to do the chain saw. I knew that I was getting tired, but you know how it is when your on a roll. Just this little bit more and I'll quit I said to myself. When I had done that little bit, I was putting the chainsaw down and it hit my thigh. Thank God the chainsaw was going slower then because I hit my thigh. It cut through to the tissue just over the muscle. If it had been going full throttle I'd have cut off my leg. It didn't hurt and didn't bleed much but I still have the scar from that mishap today. I know that I'm nuts, but I'm kind of proud of it.

Cleaned out the deep litter bed in my chicken coop. Used it to mulch in around garden plants. Now worried it will be too hot and burn them all up. If they die... They die lol. I will still have garlic.
              Also mowed.
Of course worked and changed discus water. Off tomorrow, volunteered to do a short honey bee talk for kindergarteners. Supposed to maybe be rainy. I need to clean up the fish room and basement proper. I am eventually moving my discus from their 75 to a 125, so I should probably begin getting that ready.

Liz you got very lucky. I had a run in with a chainsaw when I was about 22. Cut through a hollow tree, wind picked up and snapped the tree... saw ended up on my knee. 26 external stitches, a bunch of internal ones. I literally was centimeters from losing my leg. Amazingly the angle of the blade missed anything major.

Jake, glad you were not more seriously hurt. I too have used crazy glue... first time was actually after visiting a walk in clinic in canada on vacation for a cut that had 6 stitches and openned up.. and they glued it shut.

I missed the sheath for one of my knives (I was wearing it horizontal across my back) and lit my thumb up..... Super Glue to the rescue, I applied super glue and then duct tape; went to church, came home and removed duct tape and put a proper dressing on the wound. No scars from the wound at all. Super Glue is amazing.

Today is laundry day, and I am going to add a breeding cave to the 20 gallon in my room (no fish in it yet), and take a little scotchbrite to the inside of the tank where I can see it needs a little attention.

We are doing that same thing right now on my father-in-laws home. He was 92 and quite independent. After a year and 4 months we are getting the house on the market now, and the pictures and stuff to go thru is in tremendous quantities - going into air-conditioned storage.

So today what I am up to is order packing and re organizing to allow for a little indulgence of "Tank Creep". For those unfamilar with this condition its when you add tanks to areas that you really hadnt initially planned on having them. Some hobbyists go through alternating periods of "Tank creep" followed by "Tank shutdown" syndrome..

I am currently in the Tank Creep stage of the disease after a protracted period of Tank shutdown syndrome. This is something I have suffered with my whole life.. there is no cure.
Haha. Hobby expansion and contraction. Like an accordion.

I've done that with a chain saw as well, and I was exhausted from handling it for too long. That'll do it. You learn to keep that bar away from you!

Re: What are you up to today?

Yesterday was such an awful day I couldn't talk about it. It started with my printer biting the dust so I couldn't print the 3 shipping labels for fish boxes going out next week. I've got one ordered but had to put my customers off until next week. My customers were very understanding about it. Then the front wheel got wonky on my disability scooter. I can make it work for a short while but I'm not strong enough to fix it. My linebacker type neighbor will be back from offshore Wednesday. I hope he can do it cause I can't find the part on line. The power went out just as I was draining tanks. It didn't come back on until 3 am. The fish are all fine but I haven't seen any flirting with my pair so far this morning. I heard one of my little dogs yelp, but I couldn't do anything because I couldn't see.

This morning isn't starting off any better. My little dog Stubby is walking "stove up" and seems a little ataxic. The vet opens soon so I'll be headed off to take him soon. I thought that the money from my big fish order would pay to have the 5 teeth that are on the verge of abscess pulled. I guess not.

Well, it looks like I'll be able to become toothless after all. I cured my dog after I called the vet and told them to expect me. I went to put the leash on Stubby and guess what? He got one of his front legs caught in his collar. It was stuck above his elbow and I couldn't see it because of his hair. I can breath again. It looked like he'd been poisoned although there's nothing around here that could poison him, or had swallowed a something large that was stuck somewhere in his guts and would require surgery. I'm not much of a diagnostician, am I?

Re: What are you up to today?

Today was not my favorite day. I can't blame my mistake on being old because I did the same thing back when I was young. I cleaned out my purse and saw that I had an ancient drivers license and my current one. Last time I did it I went to the driver's license place and it was zip-zip. in and out. That was not the case this time.

I heard a long time ago that you could get an appointment but I forgot about it. I went in early because I figured it would be even faster. The woman who you see greets you was so rude. She asked "do you have an appointment?" No. Last time I was here you didn't need one. She said, "I asked you a question you should answer yes or no." I was pissed about being spoken to like that but I sheepishly said No. She had me fill out a couple of forms, which I expected and told me that they would call my number when they could. I swear to God, I had to sit there until hell froze over until finally I got to the window where it got easy. It didn't take long to get my license.

Everyone I told about it said how rude they were. Some folks drive a long way off to get their license at a place where it's friendly. At least when it's time to renew I can do it on line. I never want to go back to that awful place again.

When I got home I put my Chipotle roast put together and in the oven. God, it smells good.

Not easy Greg and I feel for you guys. Me and my sisters decided who got what out of the house. Grandkids etc made a list of what they wanted and we decided who got what. Helps to keep any drama in the background.
