It's about half way grown. So I walked by him and continued my walk. On the way back I caught up with him and suddenly he crossed the road in front of me and I watch him go into his burrow.

This should be fun. They're saying 80+ mph winds and yet more tornados

Did You weather that storm ok Brian?

The next few days here will be low 90s and humid... Then back to the more high 60s and 70s
Going to be difficult. Keeping all my recent garden plantings alive as their roots aren't really developed enough.Lots of watering next few days.

I spent the last few days cat proofing our windows with white egg crate to keep my. House panther from busting through every time he sees a bird. We use portable ac units here so those needed to be secure as well.. We usually run a large portable upright AC in our living room/family room and vent it out a window. Its a large open space. The window venting setup means one side of the room. Is cool.. the far side is not. This year I decided to remove the door of the Wood stove and made a wood vent mount yesterday... Sprayed the wood black and set up the AC in the middle of the room. So far it's working as intended

seems to have been a good DIY hack, idea and application so far. Removal of the unit is a piece of cake now as the wood panel just slides in and out... It's fastened by one screw through the panel into a. Small piece of. Floating. Wood blocking and wedges under the hinges on the other side.

Same here renting is not my favorite thing. I rented from Home Depot an aerator for reseeding, and it wasn't working needed to return and got a crappier model that was junk. Plus, the back and forth with a trailer.
Nice hack Al with the ac.

Very cool box turtle Danny, I love them. When I use to go hunting with my dad we would find them sometimes and of course they came home with me lol. These days they are super rare and I think protected. These days they are raised domestically for the pet trade and run about $500 each.

Yikes Brian, I hope you have a place to hide . In the old house Tom and I reinforced the laundry room as a place we could go to in case of a tornado.

That's a cool hack Al and looks like it should work very well!

Last night we went over to Mike and Diana's house and finally had shrimp again. I bought and cooked the shrimp and Mike and Diana provided the sides. We had a blast. Al, I did not bring the mead since I had to drive home. I have very little tolerance for alcohol. One or two sips and I get a nice buzz going. I would make a cheap drunk lol.

ps, next time you cook the shrimp Al use mostly vinegar

This was the second massive storm in two days. I was lucky and ended up with a little wind as the storm hit, and some heavy rain all through the night, so no big deal here, but there was some nasty stuff, including tornados all around. I opened the garage door for my attic cat but had to close it when I saw a raccoon trying to steal her food. The only bad thing that happened to me was T-Mobile internet went down and I couldn't stream, so I was forced to watch the local weather forecaster drama queens until I went to bed. Every local station pre-empted regular programming from 5pm until I went to bed at 11. At least I got about 60% of my garden tilled and planted, so I'll have to wait another few days to get the rest finished.

Pat you definitely don't want to be driving after drinking my mead. it packs a punch for its taste Best sipped and enjoyed at home.

Used have lots of box turtles here too . Now they are very rare and protected in CT.. Box turtles have home ranges that are small, often the size of a football field . if you remove them and relocate they will try and return. This homing instinct helped them survive millions of years but then we came along and built on their home ranges... they don't leave though so they basically die on roads, developments etc. It's a sad thing.. very sad. It's been years since I saw one in the wild in CT.

I have noticed that gophers tortoises also has a really good homing instinct Al. My friend Lyn (goat lady) found a gopher tortoise with a compromised shell. Not sure what happened. Lyn took it to a wildlife rehabber who helped to heal it and Lyn picked it up and returned it to the house.

I've stopped my car and blocked traffic twice this year so far so I could get out and move them off the street. It's amazing how rude and impatient some people are with their horns, lol...
