I'm probably in the worst area for Rats. We have a small creek in the back of the coops.. my neighbor to the back has ducks. My neighbor to the side has Chickens.. another neighbor further down the stream has geese and another one further up the stream has turkeys and chickens. There's a large farm right across the street. All things considered it's a rat paradise which is probably why we also have record numbers of bobcats, foxes and coyotes. Ah well could be worse.
What are you up to today???

That's very true Chuck.
I actually just moved the red footed tortoises out for the summer/early fall.
I can't believe I got these as hatchlings in 2007... They are close to 20 years old now.
Original thread here.. https://forum.simplydiscus.com/forum...oted-tortoises.
They will probably out live me lol.

They do Pat and they Go into the shed for the night on their through that little door.. I have the outside pen completely fenced so they are safe from raccoons and other critters just in case. . Someday I will build them their own complete year-round enclosure.. but that's not going to happen anytime soon.>>>>>

Al, I considered getting a box turtle and decided against after I researched the facility and care needed.
Do your guys normally stay in groups in the wild?

Pat they don't really stay in groups but they get along extremely well. We know they have specific needs now but when I started we didn't really know all that.If I could go back in time I would have raised these Guys much different than I did. They have grown really well and I have never had a sick one or a death . But I could do better knowing what I know now.>>>>>

It's funny how hindsight works Al
On another note I just took the first step in adopting another dog. Her name is Angel. The adoption paperwork was brutal lol.

I will do better then that Liz, here's her photo and a little write up.
Angel is a lab mix and Angel came into a rescue with a weeping gunshot wound and heavily pregnant. Despite everything she had been through, she gave birth to 15 healthy babies.
All of her babies have been adopted - now it's Angel’s turn to be someone’s baby.
Angel is a shy, gentle soul who takes a little time to trust - but once she does, her love is soft, loyal, and incredibly special. She isn’t the kind of dog who demands attention… she’s the kind who quietly chooses you.
She would do best in a calm, patient home that will let her open up at her own pace. Angel is dog and cat friendly!

Oh, Pat...She's beautiful, and from the description, she sounds perfect for you. Imagine, the dear lady took care of 15 babies. I love her already. She's a kind soul, just as you are.Mama BearComment

Thanks Liz and you see why I am willing to give this sweet sounding girl a chance!
