Well coming off the heat wave,we got hammered by storms and rain and have a relatively nice few days here now. Spending it. Tent camping at s campground. We have been coming to now for years and years.Always get the same sites. It's funny in that our neighbors do as well and though we dont know them well, we watched their grand kids grow up and they watched my kids grow. We don't coordinate the trips, but since we rent our site for 3 weeks and they rent it for 6 weeks there's always an overlap.

I'm off to the Orlando Wetlands this morning for a morning out with my camera and photo buddy Susan. We are meeting up a 6:30am and will leave about 9am to beat the heat.

Man, we had a heck of a storm late yesterday afternoon. Had a ton of heavy rain, lightning, lost the internet but not the power. We turned off the computers when we get weather like this. This internet was restored early this morning. When I went to start the computer this morning it was also acting weird but seems to be ok now. This morning off to do some chores for Tom, haircut, mexican lunch and a stop at the library so he can get a library card.

This morning was a CT scan with contrast. Ho hum...
Tomorrow morning will be the cancer doctor and blood work if he thinks I need it. Ho hum.

But yesterday my vet came with meds for my cat, who may have Demodex, and my dog, who needs pain meds for her arthritis. Now that was a total joy. I used to have my grooming business in his clinic. I started when they were brand new. Their hospital was in a trailer made for veterinary use. There were just 3 people there, a receptionist/secretary, and the veterinarians who were husband and wife. I was a new groomer and rented space from them for my business. We were all new.

When I wasn't grooming, I was in the clinic learning from them. The vets both liked to teach and I absorbed everything they said. It was the best time of my life. I was married to a wonderful man who let me be who I am, I was involved in turning my dairy goats into a show herd, I was learning on my own how to be a good groomer rather than a hack, and I was getting educated in medicine for free. What a wonderful time it was. I watched the vet hospital go from being a little buiness in a trailer to being the largest large and small animal hospital in the state with 4 large animal vets, 4 small animal vets, plus my vet, Lowell who at 73 is still working while being semi-retired.

Lowel and I hadn't seen one another for several years, but we have always been close. We had a long talk about old times and what is going on with us now. It was great seeing each other again and catching up.

Liz that's great. It was also nice to hear a little more about your backstory. thank you!

I had a rather interesting few days. As mentioned I am camping this week.. we. Camp here 3 weeks every summer. It's close to home so taking care of critters and garden is easy. Saturday I came home to take care of a bunch of stuff..Sunday morning I packed up supplies for the campsite. And went to start the car. Nothing happened. Dead battery.. so I popped it on a charger and it "charged" .. then it gave up the ghost. Called in a favor and got a ride to every auto parts store..not one had my Subaru outback battery and none had anything that would fit the tray. Subaru wants $300 for the battery and they are closed on sundays. I ended up modifying an over priced battery to fit... Finally got on the road... And was halfway through the 30 min drive.Had my arm out the window and felt a sharp impact and knew I got stung. I have a complicated relationship with bee stings. I don't always react but when I do it's never good. This was one of those . My guess is it was hornet or wasp. I watched my arm swell over the next 15 Mins. I was just about to get to the campground when a car flagged me down pointing to my roof. I thought my kayak roof rack was falling off?
Nope...left my Hiking boots on the roof. Duh...Can't believe they stayed up there the whole drive.
anyhow got to the camp ground and popped a few benedryl which I hate. slept in the hammock all day. Meanwhile my arm swelled more. Hurt to the point I couldn't use the arm. Last three days it's been an itchy painful mess. ..tonights the first time it's started feeling better. still itchy but not as swollen..I have to watch it closely. I have had several times in the past where I needed to hit the walk in clinic for meds...some kind of bacterial infection from the sting.

What a crappy day! I hope the rest of your vacation is much better. Hopefully the sting won't become a major issue!!

That sounds awful Al, guessing you are allergic to bee/wasp strings.

As for me I am getting new fish today, three heckels and a wild blue. I think this will mostly fill the few tanks I have. I am aiming for a group of wild blues and a group of heckels.

Al, as you probably know, bee and wasp venom are different. So, I wonder if bee stings don't bother you too bad, but wasps do? Depending on the situation, it's sometimes hard to know what it was. Getting nailed with your arm out the window is just bad luck. Hope it's not infected!

Jacob, I don't have any reactions to honey bees, but yellow jackets and hornets are usually really bad. Not sure on wasps as I haven't been stung by one in ages.

Yellow jackets are wasps, so you were either stung by a wasp of some kind or a hornet. Good thing you're doing better. Have you considered carrying an EpiPen? It might not be a bad idea. Bad reactions like this generally get worse over time, not better.
