Re: New start for the L046's

Ok the tank was ready on Tuesday so I gave it another day and did a 100% water change last night and transferred the 10 Zebras over. I will be still monitoring the cycle to make sure I don't have a nitrite spike. It took less than a week to complete the cycle with a sponge from the tank they were coming from. Also it's a larger sponge rated for a 40 gallon. This morning the cycle still checked out ok and they had eaten almost all the food that I gave them last night. Usually the eat most of their food after lights out when they are comfortable to come out. Things might change a a species only tank.

I've got all my body parts crossed for you to see some action soon! You're living my dream right now Chuck - when I was a kid I always wanted to have a setup with L046s and have them breed.

Tuesday I did a major clean on the L046 20 gallon tank. I did a test run for a week to see how would they fair when I go on vacation with every other day feeding. Lifted the covers and cleaned up and all was good.

Looking good Chuck, can't wait to see updated pics as you go along. I understand about the vacation part of it, I leave this Thursday for 16 days down to Florida, we will see how good my son does with the tanks he has to take care of. LOL

I keep my vacations to 7 days only so my pet sitter can handle without water changes. Our condo hasn't sold so we will be going to Florida again next year for 7 days. Luckily we got a renter for the winter months. But we will be heading to Wyoming soon to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

Enjoy vacation!! Bring your camera! Are you hotel in it or b&bs. We were supposed to do that this year. Were planning on b&bs but grandkids changed plans. Now we rented a house in the Catskills. Bring the dogs too .
Find it hilarious the pic with all their tails sticking out.

They're so cool looking Chuck! Cool to see them come out of their cave and graze across the bottom of the tank. I think I recall you saying previously that you do not know the M/F ratio, nor how to sex them, did I remember that correctly? If not, do you know what you have gender wise?

Thanks Daniel but I have no idea yet the ratio. Don’t like to pick them up to check. But 3 out of 10 hang out outside the caves those might be females.
