Hi all,
I have a batch of really nice Dutch Blue Rams ready to go.Need to make room for more babies. These are roughly 3 months old and starting to color up. The Dutch Blue Ram is similar to the german blue rams but supposedly were bred from wilds independently. They tend to be smaller than German Blues. Having both wild rams and these dutch here I can see alot of similarities. In any case they are not all that common a variety and I like them quite a bit. They are a great substitute for wild rams in a discus display tank and are just a real pretty adult Ram.

As a quarantine yes... but as adults, 4 in a 20 gal is what I use...I can get 2 pairs to breed in that set up. 10 gals is too small for 4 of these once they start pairing up.

Go or it, Phil. I got these from the same breeder as Al. Tristan imported them from Holland himself. When they are mature they have great color, and although people say they are short lived, it's not the case if you treat them the same as you treat your Discus or keep them with Discus.

As if I need more motivation Liz!! Hahah. I was thinking a pair may be nice in my new display tank. Maybe if Al still had some when I’m back from vacation in a few weeks I’ll grab a possible Pair. I have heard those rumors on rams short life and it always scared me away. Hearing you say it’s not the case makes it all the more tempting !!!

It would be fun to have a bunch of them in a 75 with Discus and watch them as they schooled back and forth. In not too long you will see a pair or two claim an area to set up house.
