Hi all,
Its Been awhile since I posted, rough year here, more on that latter elsewhere, but I wanted to let you all know that I have had to make a very difficult decision. I will no longer be selling freeze dried blackworms from Australian Blackworms. I started a collaboration with Mal Davidson of Australian Blackworms in 2010. I started selling their freeze dried Blackworms at a time when no other producers offered them and I promoted them faithfully for years. I had an excellent relationship with the farm and the farms products were excellent and available. Fast forward 15 years to today, 2025, and alot has changed Mal has long since passed away and the farms product though still excellent have become largely unobtainable to me. Last year we went months between stock orders for various production reasons. This year I placed my stock order in January 2025. It is now November 2025,10 months latter and after months of inquiries, I have been told my stock is ready to ship. I had repeatedly inquired on stock status and could never get an answer, which meant I could never give my customers an answer. That to me is a failing on the part of the farm and not acceptable to me. I have always tried to be honest and transparent with my customers.
News of the stock order was welcome initially, but this comes at a time when US customs has become very difficult to navigate. There is a tariff now and customs has been backlogged badly, up to 10% of cargo is actually being destroyed as it is due to documentation/inspection issues in the last two months (Info). We are heading into the holiday rush and its going to be even more chaotic. I am sure the Government Shutdown has not helped. The farm expects me to assume the burden of loss if that happens. Given the year after year decline in stock availability from Australian Blackworms, the increasing costs of the product, and now the difficulty and financial risk in even getting the stock through customs its really not worth it any longer for me. Honestly its a decision I should have made years ago as the writing was on the wall then but I really liked the product and enjoyed the business relationship I had with my customers.
I want to thank all of you who supported my business. I have made many warm connections with my customers. I will miss that immensely. You always were the most important part of my business model. I do not know what I plan to do now, job hunting has proven challenging. For now I will still sell my Pellets and evaluate if that is worth doing still. I am very sorry to those of you patiently waiting for Blackworm stock, but I can not bear the financial burden of risk importing Blackworms that take months and months to get in as stock.
Best wishes to all of you this Holiday Season and thank you Again for all your support.
