Oh the frustrations of life...The dentist I uses doesn't take my insurance plan. Damn. So I went to the humana website and searched for one who does. It will be 2 weeks until I can get in. I've never used this new guy and I hope he is good at what he does.

Liz, Do you have Medicare Supplement as the primary and humana as the secondary? I just had a tooth pulled it cost me more than my monthly SSI.

I have a Humana PPO plan, that gives me (or so it says) $3,500 coverage on dental. I can't go with the normal Medicare supplement because I have degenerative disc disease, but $3500 sounded good to me. I don't don't go to any other doctors other than my pain doctor because if anything else is wrong with me I don't want to know. I keep waiting for a bolt of lightning to take me out, but it keeps on not happening. I'll be over this downer by morning. Thanks for asking, Cliff.

Very nice, Al. I used to just build a fire in the back yard and sleep outside looking at the stars. Can't do it any more though. The back hasn't allowed it for years.

Dentist for me today. Not nearly as much fun as camping.

BTW, scrabble is my favorite board game. I was a pretty darned good at it despite the fact that I'm dyslexic.

The scrabble game was fun.. I was way ahead all of the game until my son got some insane word that netted him 2 triple word values.. he scored something like 200 points..needless to say he crushed my dreams of a scrabble victory.

I think he turned the word "parted" into " Departed" and it was a triple and another triple and a double letter.... all said it netted him 117 points and he ended the game with 200 pts go figure..

I used to enjoy playing with my nephew. He was just 8 years younger than me but he was a genius. He scored 800 on both parts of his SAT's. The smartest person I have ever known. But since he was younger he was great to compete against. Sometimes I won sometimes he did. I couldn't touch him in chess, though. He found me too easy and I never won. I sure do miss him. When he was living in London he came to visit me once a year. Then out of nowhere, he up and suddenly died of heart attack at 58.

Trying to stay cool here. It's 111 today with heat index of 117 and hopefully tomorrow is the end of the heatwave. Yesterday my mother informed me that her air conditioner wasn't working and hadn't been working all year so I drove there and installed a small window unit. A mouse had chewed through the larger unit when it was stored in the barn. Hopefully it'll take the edge off for another day...

Sorry to hear about your mom's heat issues Brian. We are not quite that hot here in Central Florida. Still here at the office, 9:22PM Florida time, if that's any indication what I'm up to today.
You're a good son. Moms' are a priority.

Nick is home now and not taking such good care of his Discus tank :-(
I bought his 36 from him so that gives me an aquarium to love on.

Brian.. thats pretty darn hot! Is it a dry heat? Can you guys use swamp coolers aka evaporative coolers? I wish we could use them here.. when we get heat though in the northeast..its hot humid muggy junk.. cant use evap coolers on it.

I sure hope Brian's is a dry heat. It's been miserable here the whole week so I've mostly stayed indoors: mid-90s all week with heat index ranging from 104-108. It's definitely not a dry heat here. Hazy and muggy as all get out so makes it very unpleasant to be outside longer than a few moments.

Unfortunately the humidity is around 80% and makes it pretty miserable. I was watering the garden and when I finished it I looked like I showered myself, lol... I installed my own HVAC in my house a few years ago and even though I don't use it very often, it's working like a champ so I guess I did it right! The good thing is today should be the last of the excessive heat and we'll hopefully be getting the remnants of that tropical storm that hit Texas a few days ago and get some much needed rain. With this humidity, I just hope it doesn't explode again like it did in July.
