    Default QT new fish questions

How exactly and with what do you pretreat for external parasites, hexamit, and internal worms?

And what does it mean to cull from tanks to check the new fish out further.

I am new to discus but wanting to learn. I have 2 adults and 3 juves in 55 gallon. I did not qt when adding these. :-[

I just had a scare with my nitrite and thought I was going to lose one. I'm really attached to them now, and I want to add one more juv to my tank, so I want to do it correctly. So I qt for 6 weeks?

Is 2 adults and 4 juves the max for a 55 gallon?

I would say that quarentining a juvie alone for 6 weeks would be pretty rough on the fish. As for treating during the process....i would only do so if i suspected a problems, but random meds won't do any good. Maybe it would just be better to keep the tank as is??? Or otherwise, add more than just 1?

Tyler gave you some good advice. I'd leave the tank the way it is with 5 discus. When one buys new discus its best to get at least 4, preferrably 6 or more. Put them in a tank away from your other discus and observe them for several weeks (4 or more). If they get sick treat that illness.
