    hi Eva,
The mag drive 5 is made to be used submerged, or in line, so your plan should work. I did have one get hot and burn out on me, but it was almost 5 years old at the time. Will it be use constantly? Or just to return water to the tank after water changes?

It will be used just for water changes. I was thinking the distance to the sink would be to far for that pump.

    Thanks

    Hi again Eva,
I don't think so, those pumps are pretty powerful, and they are made to be durable. Just remember to start a siphon before you plug it in so it doesn't run dry.

I think you should put a stop valve or waht you call them. so when you only have to start siphon once and then when you want to do another wc, turn the valve and then it'll be flowing down and your ready no need to do much work????

this is juss a thought thou
